A Felt Thanksgiving -- Link party!

Happy Friday everyone!

We've got one week till Thanksgiving dinner is upon us and I'm sure a lot of you aren't making last years mistake of keeping everything to the last minute (or at least trying to...) Well even if you are, here are some easy and simple felt projects to get inspiration from.

let's start off with this fun idea on a way to add ambiance to the home using mason jars and felt. These bloggers used paper to create the feathers but come on, you know using felt would be better ;)

Project from Crafty Lumberjacks
A very unique napkin holder or it could be a utensil holder too! This blogger also has a step by step tutorial on how to make your own.

Project from Daisy Mae Belle
Okay We've got the lighting, the place mat and napkin holder covered now you just need place cards to add the finishing touches to your table!

We found this great idea that includes twine to add a more natural feel and look on the table. This DIY also has a tutorial included to show you how to make the cornucopia.

Project from The Bright Ideas

Now I know the title says "A Felt Thanksgiving" but I could not, not share this next project/idea and plus we can mix it up a bit here At The Felt Store! hehehe So here is a bonus idea on Card Holders. (P.S. this idea can definitely bring in the "thankful" element to the whole holiday"

A simple project that can have a wonderful impact on your guests this Thanksgiving. Use Burlap to create envelope place cards. Inside each one, leave each guest a note about why you're thankful for them. Speaks volumes doesn't it!?

Project/idea from Atta Girl Says

Hopefully this list gets you thinking about your thanksgiving decor! Have a wonderful weekend!

Tablescaping for American Thanksgiving!

Hello everyone!

As always I hope you're all having a fantastic Friday! So as usual I've been perusing through the internet to find interesting trends, what's unique things are being made with felt/burlap/cork and it seems everyone is in fast forward mode to the Holidays. Here I am like "but, but it's only really the 1st week of November! We haven't even had American Thanksgiving. Where did all the turkey decorations & ideas go!? Did the turkey not get to cross the road!? Did Santa like eat this turkey up  and was like muahahaha Christmas came early this time!"
I know a lot of eCommerce and guru's had predicted this to happen; I guess I shouldn't be that surprised that people  have started holiday shopping and sharing their decorating ideas early, but can we at least let the 2nd week of the month pass! At least.

So I'm going to make a stand and today's post will be how you can use Felt, Burlap, and Cork to get ready for what seems to be a "disappearing", "invisible" Thanksgiving dinner! We had tons of fun on the set of this photo shoot and yes the benefits of it was we got to eat the food once we were done! So for the few people out there who are thinking on how to decorate the home for turkey day here are some tablescaping ideas and over all decorating ideas for the home!

Felt Geometric Wall Art

Hey hey everyone!

Today I'm going to be posting a quick and easy DIY project that is perfect as a weekend craft. We at The Felt Store as you know moved into a new building about a year ago! And slowly but surely we've been creating an inviting and warm office space for everyone here of course by using felt! We stumbled upon Craft Blog's Geometric Felt Artwork ( which inspired us to create felt triangle wall art using the fall season as our colour palette! We used rich reds, oranges, and yellows to create our artwork.

Check out the tutorial below to create your own Autumn wall art for your space!

- 9" x 12" Felt Sheets
- Triangle Stencils
- Glue/Tape
- Scissors
- Bristol Board
- Frame

1) Plan out how you would want the pattern to be and how the colours would be placed on the bristol board. Below is that pattern and colours we used!

Felt Colors: Red, Antique Gold, Orange, & yellow

2) Next cut out the triangles in each colour you have chosen. We used a stencil to make sure our triangles were a consistent size.

3) Using the printed out guide shown in step 1 we taped down the triangles on white bristol board. You can definitely use glue to secure the triangles.

4) After placing all the triangles onto the bristol board, you'll have something that looks like this! Simple, easy and adds a pop of colour and texture to your space.

You don't have to enclose it in a frame, you can even leave out the glass or plastic from the frame so that you can actually touch the felt! Interactive artwork is always great.

What fall crafts have you been working on? Let us know below! It's always great to see what you all are up to :)

Happy Friday guys!

Dolls and Daydreams

A few weeks back I had the pleasure of coming across Sarah Hanson via our twitter account! This is why I love social media a simple tweet can lead to a wonderful conversation between two people and a bonus we found another lover of felt! Sarah Hanson’s creativity and love for felt has lead her to design an abundance of felt dolls under her business Dolls and Daydreams! We just had to share her story with you guys and it’s a great example of yet again the many things you can do with felt and where your passion can take you!

Hi my names Sarah, I am the indie soft toy designer behind Dolls And Daydreams
. I’m an English girl living my Daydreams in the USA with my wonderful husband and beautiful children as my daily source of inspiration.

I specialize in Fun & Easy Step by Step Photo Tutorial Sewing Patterns so that even a beginner sewer will be able to make dolls and softies just like mine!

When I was a little girl my Nanna taught me to sew & my first project was a little rag doll - I was in love! But when I brought a store doll pattern I was shocked at how hard it was to understand and so unhappy with my finished friend. So I kept creating my own doll & softie designs for my friends & family.

My life took an interesting turn after I organized a charity doll drive for the children of Haiti. I designed and offered an easy free doll pattern and the response was amazing. We collected over 500 dolls for the children and have since continued to collect, make & send out 1000’s to children in need all over the world. Through this wonderful work I received so many kind comments and requests for more designs and patterns and thus Dolls And Daydreams™ was born.

I start with my daydreamed doll/softie sketches and after numerous prototypes I turn them into patterns to share with other stay-at-home mummies who want easy to follow patterns that let them make quality products for their kiddie winks to enjoy, something that reflected their child’s uniqueness that they can pour love into whilst they make it for them.

I use a mix of 100% cotton and 100% wool felt.  I loved the bright colors of felt and the simplicity of it .. those lovely sharp lines when you cut it that never fray make my day!   When I use it in my designs I know that others will enjoy working with it because it is so easy to use.

Nearly all of my appliqu├ęs are felt, it’s those amazing non-fraying edges again!!!!  Details both big – like the hair I use on my dolls - and small – like the eyes - look amazing in it!

I love handmade and support cottage industries whole heartedly! That means you can sell your finished dolls and softies! Hooray!!!

Please feel free to post your finished dolls on my Facebook page  , I love seeing everyone’s creations!
